It is an honor to be the Principal of Rayat Shikshan Sanstha’s Karmaveer Bhaurao Patil College, Vashi, which is considered among the best and most preferred after colleges in Navi Mumbai. Catering to the academic requirements of more than 7000 students, our college provides quality education by equipping the students with proficiency, confidence and a positive approach essential for all-around development.
Following the path of our revered founder Padmabhushan Karmaveer Bhaurao Patil, the college is relentlessly striving to perceive and maintain academic excellence by keeping in mind social obligations.
Our quality policy is to meet and exceed the needs of our students by providing them with excellent facilities necessary for overall growth and glow. In July 2013, the college acquired ISO 9001:2008 certification for quality education services as a step towards excellence with quality consciousness. Department of Science and Technology selected our college for the FIST scheme and sanctioned a handsome grant of Rs. 80 Lakh for upgrading instrumentation in science laboratories and facilitate e-learning. I take pride in sharing with you the most important accomplishment of our college in the year 2012-13, i.e. “BEST COLLEGE AWARD” by the University of Mumbai in Urban Category. In November 2014 our college was selected by Department of Biotechnology under “STAR COLLEGE SCHEME” for supporting research activities in undergraduate science courses. Also, in 2019 College received STAR STATUS from Department of Biotechnology, Govt. of India in physics, chemistry and microbiology departments with grant Rs 62,00,000/- under DBT STAR STATUS schemes.
Recently, many infrastructural developments were accomplished. New advanced instrumentation along with rising in routine ones, is helping our students and teachers to embark in the field of research with great vigor and enthusiasm. Grants from the Department of Biotechnology and Department of Science and Technology helped us to enlighten our technical aspects. Some of our departments have also started offering consultancy in the areas of their expertise and this endeavor is also gaining momentum.
Currently, the biggest challenge to the education system is unemployment or substandard employment. To increase the employability of students, the college has undertaken many initiatives. There are 29 skill-based/enrichment courses conducted by different departments to train the students and increase their employability. Students can undertake these courses parallel to the conventional courses and earn an additional qualification. Apart from this, the college conducts programs like “Campus to Corporate” and “Tata Strive” in collaboration with corporate houses to make the students job-ready.
As education is incomplete without research, a lot of efforts are undertaken to facilitate the research activities of students and faculty members. The institute runs four research centres in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Microbiology and Commerce. In all, 44 research projects have been completed and 20 research projects [major as well as a minor] funded by different agencies are going on in different departments. The faculty members along with the students have published 432 research papers [Check the number] in reputed national and international journals and proceedings of conferences.
In higher education, the institute plays a pivotal role in developing the generation next and thus in nation-building. The 21st century has seen an enormous change in the education system by leaps and bounds. Globalization and technological advances have brought the world close but the people have moved away from each other. In the present scenario, which is marked by high competition and materialistic attitude, we are losing the sensitivity and sensibility of “Being Human”. Since 2014, we have started a novel program of value-based education which is called as “Self Development Program”. This initiative encompasses all the senior college students of the college.
The students of our college have won great number of awards, prizes and accolades in different competitions and tournaments. Many of our faculty members have acquired Ph.D. degrees, received awards at seminars, written books and have published research papers in reputed journals. I bestow my best complements to all of them.
The Internal Quality Assurance Cell makes incessant efforts to impart quality teaching, meeting and exceeding the needs of students, ensuring continual improvement in the processes and operations and providing growth oriented and progressive work culture to employees.
